This guide explains each possible SASSA status code, based on the official definitions from SASSA (South African Social Security Agency).
1. Pending
Meaning: Your application is still under verification.
What SASSA is checking:
- Identity verification (Home Affairs database)
- Income verification (Bank data + UIF checks)
- Residency verification
What to do: Wait — the process can take up to 7–14 days. If still pending after a month, contact SASSA.
2. Approved
Meaning: Your SRD R370 grant has been approved.
You will see:
- Month approved
- Payment date → money will be paid into your verified bank account.
What to do: Nothing further. Payment should arrive within 7–10 days of status update.
3. Declined
Meaning: Your application was not successful.
Common reasons:
- UIF Registered → You are listed for UIF benefits
- Income Source Identified → Your bank account showed income above R624 threshold
